Juvenile Set To Gain First Win For In-Form Trainer
The John Gosden stable has been churning out winners at a rate of 36% in the last couple of weeks and can add to that today with URSA MINOR in the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at Yarmouth. The aptly named son of Sea The Stars has had two runs, both Class 4 seven furlong events at Newmarket, and has been placed each time. He steps up in distance and probably down in class today, though, as is often the case at Yarmouth due to its proximity to Newmarket, there are a couple of likely challengers from Headquarters in the event.
The colt was favourite in both races and shaped well when third of nine to Military March in the latest one 54 days ago. He wasn't put under any undue pressure by jockey Kieron O'Neill and the fourth, Johan, has come out again since at Lingfield and won easily. The mile trip will definitely suit, Gosden is 35% at Yarmouth and the progeny of Sea The Stars are 33% there.
LIVE YOUR DREAM is from the Saeed Bin Suroor stable and ran really well when second to Vindicate at Chelmsford though that looks a weaker contest than either of Ursa Minor's Newmarket ones. HLAITAN could be the main danger as State Crown is now a non-runner. His rider James Doyle is a very encouraging 27% at Yarmouth and this is supported by trainer Hugo Palmer's 11 from 55 success rate at the course. CARLOS FELIX, who cost 700,000 euros at Deauville in May and is half-brother to Group winner Here Comes When, makes plenty of appeal on debut. He has been backed into second favourite but in a race with future winners in it, Ursa Minor can star today.
