Consistent Type Ready To Get His Head In Front With Conditions To Suit
The Ed Walker trained DREAMWEAVER wasn't seen to best effect when runner-up at Lingfield last month but did show that he goes on an all-weather surface and that he comfortably gets a mile and a half. That race, won by Sea Battle, was paradoxically run at a moderate pace early on (after a delayed start) but Dreamweaver was staying on well at the end, albeit it not enough to win. He certainly ran the furthest in the event, being five or six lengths wide throughout the final half mile and being slightly left behind when the pace quickened. He is a couple of pounds better than the bare result and goes off the same mark of 75 today.
He was made favourite for that last outing on the basis of four good runs after being gelded, the best of which was a win at Haydock over a mile and a quarter in July. His trainer is in top late season form with seven winners from his last 29 runners and jockey Hector Crouch is one from three at the course.
AD LIBITUM is a very obvious danger, up just 3lbs for a course and distance win just 11 days ago. Jockey Ben Curtis is 14% at the course, a figure that rises to 18% when he rides for Roger Fell. BRANDY SPIRIT is well rated and was third over an extended mile at Wolverhampton but his try at ten furlongs two outings ago saw him well beaten and his sire Charm Spirit was a miler. A good number of layers have Dreamweaver at 15/8 and that looks fair.
