It All Points To A Stepping Stone For Progressive Type
French stallion Voix Du Nord has produced some top National Hunt horses such as Vroom Vroom Mag and Taquin Du Seuil and might have another decent type running today in the shape of DESTRIER. The five-year-old is soon put to fences in the toals.com Casino Chase over a shade under two miles and has looked a promising jumper in the making since winning two novice hurdles at Leicester and Wetherby last winter. Stepped up to Grade Two company at Kempton in February, he finished fifth behind Global Citizen in a hot event, the latter going on to win the Gerry Fielden on Saturday. Destrier then made a promising return to action at Sandown last month on heavy ground in a competitive handicap hurdle, again performing admirably in just getting tapped for toe coming around the bend and then keeping on well. He looks potentially well handicapped off the same mark of 127 now sent chasing and Skelton is sure to have him well schooled ahead of his first start over the larger obstacles. Top on BTOPlus+ regular ratings, he gets seven positives, including Skelton's 27% better than expected with horses making their chase debut and his 24% in novice handicap chases. ANOTHER CRICK is favourite and did well when second in a big field on his chasing debut at Chepstow but Destrier's 3.75 on the exchanges looks good.
