Stoute Three Year To Make Amends For Unlucky Last Run
The Ryan Moore ridden WHITEHALL tries to make amends for a less than fortuitous run at Windsor last time out in the Devine Homes Handicap at Sandown this evening. He was made favourite for that last race a couple of weeks ago but had little chance after a hundred yards into the event, having blown his chances at the gate. He stayed in the stalls when the others broke and then wasted energy when chivvied up to the rear of the field. He was still around ten lengths down at the three furlong marker and then did really well to run on into fourth, beaten a couple of lengths. He actually looked to have a chance a furlong or so out but the effort had taken its toll and he kept on at the one pace. The winner, Optimum Time has only run moderately since at Brighton but was very unsettled there and the third, Glorious Army has come out since and won at Newbury. Whitehall is top on BTOPlus+ regular ratings and gets three nice positives, including the trainer's 24% better than expected at the course and his nine from 31 win return in the last fortnight. Ryan Moore on board is hardly a drawback and the 9/4 on offer at Skybet looks enticing, with ILLUSIONAL next best on BTO.
