Nicky Henderson has some excellent chances at the Chaltenham Festival, but none more so than last year's Champion Hurdle winner.
Although we haven’t seen that much of BUVEUR D’AIR this year, the reigning Champion hurdler has at least made the Festival without any mishaps. He has dispatched what opposition that has been put in front of him easily enough and he’s a long odds-on chance to repeat his win of last year.
The big question is what sort of form his main rival and 2015 Champion Hurdle winner Faugheen arrives in having shown varying levels of his old self in three outings since returning from a long absence.
Aside from Faugheen, Willie Mullins runs a further three in Melon, Yorkhill and Wicklow Brave and all of that trio would have chances although perhaps the most interesting is the last named. He ran an eye-catching race in this last year having lost many lengths at the start and he may be capable of better.
My Tent Or Yours would be a deserving winner but he’s come up short in this before having finished a runner-up in three Champion Hurdles. Elgin was supplemented for the race after his impressive Kingwell Hurdle win and he’s another who may be capable of competing for minor honours.
