Nicky Henderson is in excellent form in recent weeks with a 40% strike-rate and his runner in the Ultima is a fascinating contender.
Coo Star Sivola looks to have plenty to recommend him having run well at the past two Festivals and Nick Williams’ runner finds himself on a workable mark after a 14L win last time out.
Singlefarmpayment was a very close second in this last year but his jumping hasn’t been up to scratch in his last few outings and he’ll need to up his game to go one better here.
Over the past few year’s it’s the class horses that have held sway in this and that gives hope that GOLD PRESENT can be effective off top weight. He’s won both his starts this year and looks a strong stayer although the ground is a slight worry for him.
There are some strong stayers in this and the tough and genuine Wakanda will enjoy this test along with the strong-travelling novice Ramses De Teillee from the Pipe stable who have taken the last two renewals of this race.
Shantou Flyer is no stranger to running well around Cheltenham – he’s only once finished out the first four in six visits – and he looks an interesting one at a big price with the leading conditional James Bowen taking the ride with the tongue-tie going on for the first time.
