Tom George's charge can confirm form with Kalashnikov in the opening race of this year 2018 Cheltenham Festival.
Willie Mullins has the favourite here with Getabird and the six-year-old is still unbeaten in his career and he was impressive in disposing of one of his main rivals today – Mengli Khan – by 9L last time out.
He clearly has a leading chance, but he faces a good British challenge this time, particularly from the Betfair Hurdle winner Kalashnikov who has won three of his four starts over hurdles this season and won’t be hampered by the softening ground.
SUMMERVILLE BOY could almost claim to be the forgotten horse of the race though and already holds a victory over Kalashnikov from the Tolworth run on heavy ground and although that’s his only win of the year over hurdles, the ground could be coming right for him.
Claimantakinforgan who was third in last year’s Champion Bumper is another to throw in the mix although he does have a little to find on form and him along with First Flow and Sharjah makes this the usual competitive opener to the Festival.
