Extra Distance Can See McDonald Mount Battle Home
After three career runs, the last two over a mile on the all weather, BATTLE LINES contests the 32Red.com Novice Stakes at Newcastle today over an extended mile and a quarter, a distance sure to suit the well named son of Sepoy. He is also the grandson of In The Wings, a big influence on his family's staying ability. In his last race, at Kempton, the James Tate trained colt was hampered early on, and then, despite not really being in a position to trouble the front two, ran on stoutly to get third, beaten just over four lengths by the winner, Glencadam Master. That horse had been runner up in his previous outing, the second, Tum Tum, had been beaten a length in his and the fourth, Statehood, was a winner. A glance at Battle Lines' profile on BTOPlus+ shows him as having a maximum ten points under "Sire Distance" as well as being top on regular and speed ratings. The horse looks a very worthy favourite with all the other competitors having at least one BTO negative and the only problem - apart from it being a horse race!- is where the pace will come from. It is possible that jockey PJ McDonald, who gets two ticks for his course performances, will try to make all. Battle Lines will be staying on at the distance, that's for sure. He is best 13/8 with Black Type.
