The Bet toteexacta At Conditions Stakes is the showpiece at Chelmsford and one talented sort lines up for the race.

BOYNTON makes his belated return having not run this campaign. Nonetheless, there should be plenty to come from Charlie Appleby's charge and he is second best rated by BTO+ going into the contest. As a juvenile, the son of More Than Ready showed a high level of form. He won his first two races, with the latter victory coming in the Group Two Superlative Stakes at Newmarket's July meeting, before then finishing third in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood behind War Decree. Nonetheless, given his lengthy subsequent absence, something may have been wrong with Boynton that day. The colt clearly has talent and if fully fit, he should be right in the mix, especially as he claims a weight-for-age allowance. Appleby has been in barnstorming form in the past two weeks and boasts a 61% better than expected strike rate.

VICTORY BOND has just one win to his name but tops BTO+ ratings heading into the contest. The only success on William Haggas' charge's record was at Ripon last season which he won by an easy seven lengths. It's been a frustrating run of seven races for the son of Medicean since, although many of these have been in Pattern company. Victory Bond hasn't really threatened during his winless streak, either, with the gelding's best effort being a third-place finish in the Hambleton Handicap at York in May. However, connections have shrewdly booked Ryan Moore to ride and he shows a 146% better than expected win rate over the course and distance.

RED VERDON was a decent three year old but has failed to flex his muscle this campaign. The son of Lemon Drop Kid finished sixth in the Derby last term before finishing fourth in the Irish equivalent. However, there have been no similar runs of that standard this season from Ed Dunlop's charge. Red Vernon's best effort was a runner-up finish in a race similar today at Doncaster last month, while the colt was a distant sixth at Newmarket last time. On his day, the four year old clearly possesses quality and at left handed tracks the colt shows a 106% better than expected win rate.

MURAD KHAN has to give weight away all round to the field. Hugo Palmer's charge racked up a hat-trick last season, which culminated in a victory at Thirsk. But there's been just one win for Murad Khan this season, which came at Windsor by one and a quarter lengths in July. Although the son of Raven's Pass' last three runs don't look all that inspiring on paper, he hasn't been that far behind in each and his sire's course and distance form is 82% better than expected.

ZUMURUDEE is the other three year old in the contest. Marco Botti's charge has just one win from five runs on his CV, which was his maiden at Wolverhampton, and this season he hasn't threatened in weaker races.

ICKYMASHO makes up the field but falls well short on official ratings and his price in the betting reflects that. One thing in Jonathan Portman's charge's favour is he has a win over the course and distance.
