Conditions Look Right For Seven Year Old To Regain Winning Way
Correct trip and ground and trainer in-form are pretty decent criteria for picking a winner and we have that today with INDIAN CHIEF in the opener at Hydock. He won his penultimate race at Beveley on good to soft and then was runner up to previous hurdles winner Taxmeifyoucan at Hamilton just last weekend, again over today's ground but at a trip a furlong longer. Beaten a neck, he goes off the same mark of 72 today and looks sure to feature in the finish; trainer Rebecca Bastiman is 10% better than expected with seven day returners. His main rival is probably PUNKAWALLAH who is, in fact top of BTOPlus+'s regular and speed ratings. The doubt with this Tom Dascombe trained three year old is the ground. He has only run four times and his win in his latest race with first time cheekpieces applied was on good to firm. BTO gives him a couple of negatives under "Sire Going" (he's by Australian outstanding sprinter Sepoy) so there is a doubt on today's good to soft. He also didn't look straightforward when winning here a month ago but could still be learning. SkyBet and BetVictor's 15/8 about Indian Chief looks fair.
