Paul Nicholls has confirmed high-class mare Laurina has been retired following her disappointing stable debut at Ascot.
The daughter of Spanish Moon enjoyed a tremendous start to her career, going unbeaten in her first six races for Irish champion trainer Willie Mullins.
However, success has been much harder to come by of late, with a rare victory at Gowran Park 12 months ago being the only highlight.
After finishing last in a field of three in the Coral Hurdle on Saturday, it was confirmed that Laurina had broken blood vessels, and now Nicholls has taken the decision to retire her.
"After discussions over the weekend it has been decided that after she bled again on Saturday, to retire wonderful racemare Laurina," Nicholls tweeted.
"Her next appearance will be at the Tattersalls Ireland breeding sale on December 14."
