There was a big shock in the bet365 Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket, with 40/1 shot Majestic Dawn romping to victory.
The Paul and Oliver Cole-trained charge cruised to victory under jockey Paul Hanagan, seeing off the rest of the field with ease, with Harry Bentley's Lucander in second and Bell Rock back in third. The 9/2f Tempus finished a disappointing sixth.
Having finished last in an all-weather handicap at Kempton in his last run, Majestic Dawn's run came as a huge surprise to many including Hanagan - who spent six months on the sidelines after breaking his back at Newcastle in February.
Hanagan said afterwards: "I don't think you'll see many winners like that. He was happy, bowling away. He was a little bit keen early on, so I took him away from the others and he relaxed lovely then. He picked up when I asked him to and I was just a passenger."
Oliver Cole admitted his surprise, stating: "We always thought he was a good horse and last year he went close in this race. All year we've had little problems with him and we ran him at Kempton to get a bit of work into him. He came last, but it put him straight and I can't believe it. It's a real shock, but I couldn't be happier for the owners."
