Trainer Clive Cox has confirmed Golden Horde is on course for next month's Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot.
The three-year-old colt has enjoyed a successful 2020, starting the season at Ascot with a Group One victory in the Commonwealth Cup. He was then beaten in three subsequent top level starts against older, more experienced horses, most recently when coming third in the Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock earlier this month.
The son of Lethal Force has certainly been impressing his trainer, with Cox now confirming his star sprinter is on course for another shot at Group One glory at Ascot on October 17.
"Golden Horde's in great nick," the Lambourn-based trainer was quoted as saying by the Racing Post. "He's had a very special season, winning his Group 1 in the Commonwealth Cup and stepping up when taking his elders on in all the major sprints.
"He's been so consistent all the way through and all being well it's all systems go for the Champions Day Sprint."
Golden Horde is considered one of the major contenders to win the Champions Sprint, with Sir Michael Stoute's Dream of Dreams and Space Blues, who is trained by Charlie Appleby, also expected to be among the frontrunners.
