Gordon Elliott admits he's never had a more exciting collecting of horses to work with and feels the future is bright for his team.
With the 2019/20 National Hunt season in Great Britain brought to an early conclusion due to the coronavirus pandemic, many trainers have been reflecting on the truncated campaign.
Elliott is certainly one of those handlers with plenty to smile about when reflecting on the season having racked up numerous winners, including an impressive seven victories at the Cheltenham Festival.
Amongst his Prestbury Park successes was Envoi Allen, who made it eight wins from eight by claiming the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle, further enhancing his reputation as a future jumps racing superstar.
Samcro also took the honours in the Marsh Chase and while Delta Work could only manage fifth in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, his triumph in the Irish Gold Cup in February has lead Elliott to predict that he will enjoy a strong 2020/21 campaign.
With so much exciting talent under his stewardship, Elliott admits he is excited for what the future holds.
"Yeah, you're right," Elliott told the Racing Post, when it is put to him that he has never had a more exciting team of horses. "Sure, what can you say about Envoi that hasn't been said already, he's just class.
"Delta Work didn't get into a rhythm in the Gold Cup for one reason or another. He's better than that and we know he is. He's still won two Grade 1s and an Irish Gold Cup so it's been a great season for him."
The trainer went on to add: "We seem to have a lot of young horses at the moment and that bodes well for the future. You'd be excited about seeing what they could do next season."
