Trainer Phil Kirby says he will pick from two races for Top Ville Ben's next run ahead of a potential Cheltenham Gold Cup outing.
Top Ville Ben has been entered into the Festival showpiece although there were doubts whether he would make it to Prestbury Park after only finishing third at Newcastle in the Listed Rehearsal Handicap Chase.
However, the eight-year-old bounced back to form with victory in the Grade 3 Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby on Boxing Day, beating Didero Vallis by a comfortable eight lengths.
Kirby is adamant his charge deserves to be given a Gold Cup chance in March while revealing there are two races he is choosing between for the gelding's next run.
"I think he had to have an entry (in the Gold Cup) - we'd have been silly not to put him in, and we'll see what it looks like nearer the time," he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. "He'll have another run before it - in either the Cotswold Chase or the Denman, I would think - and that will make my mind up.
"If he can hold his own at that level then he'll probably go and take his chance. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't have the opportunity."
