Connections hope conditions are in Lalor's favour so he can show his true colours in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup.
The seven-year-old will line up with 15 others in Cheltenham's Class 1 encounter on Saturday afternoon looking for his first victory in more than a year.
The son of It's Gino claimed the Racing Post Arkle Trophy Trial Novices' Chase at Prestbury Park in November 2018 but has struggled since then, finishing third behind Dynamite Dollars at Sandown next time out.
He was pulled up in the Arkle at this year's Festival and also failed to shine at Aintree in April before finishing fourth in his seasonal reappearance at Exeter on November 5.
Lalor will now be sent out over two miles and four furlongs for the first time and Woollacott is keeping her fingers crossed that things go well.
"He's been fine since Exeter and the way he ran that day suggested he wants a longer trip these days," said the Devon handler. "We've always felt he would stay further in time, so we'll give it a go.
"We know he's a very good horse on his day. I just hope they don't get too much rain."
