Walk In The Mill seems to have every chance of going close at the Grand National after winning Aintree's Randox Health Becher Chase.
The nine-year-old, who won over the Aintree fences 12 months ago, returned to the Merseyside venue to finish fourth in this year's National.
That was a decent effort but he was winner on Saturday after beating Kimberlite Candy by two-and-a-half lengths.
Alpha Des Obeaux was third ahead of Definitly Red and 2017 National hero One For Arthur but it was all about Walk In The Mill.
Robert Walford's charge showed no ill effects from being pulled up on his seasonal reappearance at Wincanton last month and was a worthy winner, with jockey James Best ecstatic after the race.
"I just can't believe it - he's literally the horse of a lifetime for me and Rob," he said. "Days like this don't happen to me. I couldn't believe last year - and to do it this year, it means even more. He seems to come alive round here."
