A frozen track has resulted in Sunday afternoon's planned National Hunt meeting at Carlisle being abandoned.
An initial inspection on Saturday afternoon had given the meeting the green light, but with another night of freezing temperatures forecast the plan was to check again at 8am on Sunday.
However, officials opted to abandon the meeting over an hour before that inspection with the track unfit for racing despite the vulnerable areas being covered.
Carlisle's general manager Molly Dingwall tweeted: "We tried our hardest to save today's fixture but sadly the cold beat us. We have had to abandon."
