Richard Hannon admits a final call on King Of Change's participation in the Park Stakes is yet to be made.
The three-year-old has not been seen since finishing second to Magna Grecia in May's 2000 Guineas and is being set up for an autumn campaign.
A return at Doncaster on Saturday has been mooted to reignite his season although Hannon has suggested alternative options are on the table.
While the Marlborough handler is by no means seeking to hold his charge back, there is still a chance he could be absent from Town Moor at the weekend.
Hannon said: "There are a few options for him. We could wait for a Listed race [Fortune Stakes] at Sandown next Wednesday or Newbury later that week."
