Enable primed for York meetingPosted on Tuesday 13th August 2019 @ 12.48

Trainer John Gosden says Enable is looking strong as she prepares for the Darley Yorkshire Oaks on Thursday week.

Enable has become a racing superstar over the past three seasons and heads to York's Ebor meeting looking for her second success in the Yorkshire Oaks, having triumphed back in 2017.

The five-year-old has already enjoyed a stellar campaign to date, having claimed the spoils in the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown, the King George VI at Kempton Park and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot last month.

Victory in York next week would make it 12 in a row for the talented mare, who will attempt to win the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in early October for an unprecedented third straight season.

Speaking about Enable ahead of the Yorkshire Oaks, Gosden says he is feeling confident of picking up another win.

"We are pointing at the Yorkshire Oaks – we were keen to stay at a mile and a half, rather than coming back in trip again – and obviously trying to use it as a springboard to the Arc," he was quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Post.

"She has had a nice easy time since the King George. She just did a breeze on her own with Frankie on her on Saturday – into a strong headwind, so they just did a nice quiet bit. She'll pick up again in her work this week, but she is out there enjoying herself, looking well and moving nicely."
