John Gosden says he is happy to bide his time on Dubai Warrior's next target after his recent winning return at Kempton.
A foot injury kept him away from the track for 272 days, halting his progress after triumphing on debut at Chelmsford in November 2018.
The son of Dansili finally returned to dominate a Novice Stakes at Kempton on August 7 and connections have started to entertain suggestions about a Derby bid next summer.
Gosden is keen not to get carried away though, with him happy to see how the horse develops before making any concrete plans.
"He did it fine at Kempton and it was nice to see him back," he said.
"He got a very nasty split in his hoof and that ruled him out for three or four months and it has taken time to get him back.
"He is probably a mile-and-a-quarter horse and I imagine we will step up to a mile and a quarter next. He is a horse we've always liked.
"He has got fancy entries next to his name, but we won't start talking about things like the Arc and those sort of races yet.
"The first thing is to step him up to a mile and a quarter."
