Trainer David Menuisier says it is "50-50" whether Thundering Blue races in this month's Juddmonte International Stakes at York.
Thundering Blue finished last of seven runners at the Grand Prix De Saint-cloud on his last outing at the end of June, with connections deliberating ever since where to send the gelding next.
Having decided against running the six-year-old at Haydock in the Rose of Lancaster Stakes due to soft ground, the Clive Washbourn-owned charge was instead given a workout over a mile at Newmarket.
After impressing during that run, Menuisier says it remains in the balance whether his Group Two winner, who is also in contention for the Sword Dancer Stakes at Saratoga, will be given a shot at the Juddmonte.
"Since we decided not to go to Haydock, we need to do the right things and this was part of it. It was the first time Jason Watson had sat on him and we feel that he is now starting to peak," he was quoted as saying by www.sportinglife.com
"We know this horse loves York, but I'd say at this stage it is 50-50 if he runs in the Juddmonte. Hopefully, we can make our minds up in the next couple of days."
