Classic-winning trainer Jeremy Noseda has announced his decision to retire with immediate effect.
Noseda, who is based at Shalfleet Stables in Newmarket, originally started his training career in California in 1996 before returning to Britain to work as assistant trainer for John Dunlop, John Gosden and Godolphin.
The 56-year-old joined the British training ranks in 1997 and enjoyed a standout year in 2006 when Araafa landed the Irish 2000 Guineas/St James's Palace Stakes double before Sixties Icon won the St Leger a couple of months later.
The handler also had international success with Wilko at the 2004 Breeders' Cup as well as a handful of Royal Ascot victories.
"The time is right for me to walk away. I will be leaving the sport with a smile on my face and with a lot of great memories," Noseda said.
"I've been lucky enough to enjoy many fabulous days as a trainer and also earlier in my career."
Noseda sent out 874 winners across Britain and had his final winner when Garrus landed the Westow Stakes at York's Dante meeting last month.
His most notable training performance came in 2010 when he guided Laddies Poker Two to the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot off the back of a 610-day absence.
However, the yard's numbers started to fall in recent years, with only 19 winners in two of the last three years and just four victories this season.
Noseda added: "I would like to thank my owners for their support over the last 20 years, and in particular I would like to thank my staff for all their highly skilled work and dedication.
"If there is sadness at this time it is that I will no longer be here for them. Several worked with me at Godolphin and then for me in Newmarket.
"There are those who I count as very good friends. I know that they are among the very best staff in Newmarket and will have no trouble in finding good positions in other stables."
The trainer has no immediate plans for the future apart from a long-awaited summer holiday with his family.
He said: "It will be the first time I have enjoyed a proper summer holiday with them and I'm really looking forward to that."
