Chris Wall is hoping to have First Sitting back in action in around a month after picking up an injury in France on Sunday.
The seven-year-old was hoping to build on his victory in the Netbet Mobile Bet10Get10 Festival Stakes at Goodwood, but injury scuppered his chances at Longchamp over the weekend.
First Sitting came home last in the Group Three event in France after a coming together with one of his rivals.
Wall expects his charge to be back racing in around a month but admits the next few days will be crucial.
"It is nothing long term, he was just struck into and has got a nasty cut on the back of one of his hind legs. Luckily he has caught nothing vital as it could have been a lot worse,” Wall said.
"I know there was a bit of argy-bargy down the home straight and I am not sure if it happened there or a bit earlier in the race.
"I watched the recording when I got back home and coming round the bend down the hill out of the back straight, he was leading on one leg in front and a different one behind and I wonder if he had been whacked down the back straight.
"It will be a week to 10 days before he returns to light exercise. We will just have to see how he is over the next few days. Hopefully we can think about running him in a month's time."
