Connections of Irish Roe believe the testing conditions were to blame after her poor run in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury.
Trainer Peter Atkinson had been hoping for a good run in Saturday's feature race at Newbury but his charge never got going.
The bay mare was eventually pulled up by jockey Henry Brooke as Kalashnikov kicked on to win the race.
Despite the poor run Atkinson's wife, Lucinda, has confirmed the ground just proved too much in the end.
"She seems absolutely fine. She just hated the ground, I think. It was just far too soft for he," she told reporters.
"That would have been the softest she's ever had to deal with. Soft at Doncaster is a bit different to the soft on Saturday.
"We're not in any rush to make any plans. We'll just let the horse tell us where she wants to be and go from there. We've made no decision on anything at the moment."
