Might Bite will be up against just three horses on his return to action in the Future Stars Intermediate Chase at Sandown on Sunday.
The Nicky Henderson-trained eight-year-old is starting his preparations for a Boxing Day outing in the King George VI Chase at Kempton as he looks to banish the memory of a heavy fall at the same track last year.
Might Bite has bounced back with success in the RSA at Cheltenham and followed that up with a victory in the Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree.
And looking forward to Sunday's race, which was won by Cheltenham Gold Cup victor Coneygree in 2015, Henderson is pleased with his condition.
He said: "He's in good form, his work has been good and he schooled well. We're very happy with him.
"This is a 'get-ready race' rather than D-day, but it's a nice starting point."
Might Bite will be up against Frodon, As De Mee and Label Des Obeaux in Sunday's outing at Sandown.
