Trainer Brian Ellison has revealed that the Gold Cup at Cheltenham is the main aim for Definitly Red this season.
The eight-year-old hasn't been seen since pulling up in the Grand National back in April, when his saddle slipped, and is set to make a reappearance next month in the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.
Ellison feels Definitly Red could be a Gold Cup contender and isn't too concerned about his performance at Aintree.
"Definitly Red has done fantastically over the summer. He will go to Wetherby for the Charlie Hall. He is in great form," Ellison said, as reported by Sporting Life.
"That was the Grand National for you. You have got to keep out of trouble. He jumps those fences well enough and he followed a horse that he thought jumped well."
The trainer added: "He is rated 159 and I don't think he would have to improve to much to be a Gold Cup horse. We will learn a bit more as to where we are after Wetherby. Gold Cup horses are very hard to get, but hopefully we have got one here."
