Lightening Quick claimed the Ballylinch Stud Irish EBF Fillies Maiden at Leopardstown, with connections unsure of her next move.
Bye Bye Baby, with Ryan Moore on board, led them out and looked on course for victory until being collared by Lightening Quick on the line.
The daughter of Frankel out of 2011 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Lightening Pearl scored by a neck under Colin Keane, but trainer Ger Lyons does not feel she will tread the same path as her mother.
"She's very like her mother as she needed every yard of the trip to get up and win today," he said. "She holds an entry in the Cheveley Park, a race that her mother won, but the decision we have to make is do we bring her back in trip. At the minute I would say 'no'.
And the trainer confessed that he had to take advice from connections before deciding to let the filly race.
"She is a filly we liked initially but the last two weeks her work has just been average," he added. "Gary (Carroll) and Colin kept saying to me she is only dossing and going through the motions at home, so run her."
