Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning jockey Robbie Power is to spend a period on the sidelines following a heavy fall at Sligo.
Making his first appearance of the year at Sligo on Sunday, Power was on board Jacobs Well in the third race of the day but failed to make it over the first obstacle as a trio of horse went down early on.
Power, who guided Sizing John to victory in the Cheltenham and Punchestown Gold Cups this year, came off worse from the incident before being taken to a local hospital with facial injuries.
Power can now expect to spend some time away from the track following the fall.
Turf Club medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick said: "Robbie has suffered soft tissue damage to his face and also has some dental injuries.
"He was eventually able to walk to the ambulance room unaided and has gone to Sligo Hospital for more check-ups. He will be out of action for at least six days."
