Saunter trainer David Menuisier is keeping his fingers crossed for wet weather in York on Wednesday.
Despite his defeat at Maisons-Laffitte last month, the grey is still well fancied to do well at the Knavsmire.
He was not disgraced when finishing sixth in a Listed contest in France last month but the ground did not suit him and Menuisier is expecting better things in soggy Yorkshire.
He said: "We went over there for soft ground but it was quick. He raced in a bunch of four away from the main runners but still managed to head that group at the line despite being drawn out of it."Saunter is well berthed today in stall seven.
