The Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup EBF Stallions Conditions Stakes is an intriguing six-runner affair with some potential stars in the field.
John Gosden runs two similar sorts in SHUTTER SPEED and ENABLE and Frankie Dettori has chosen to ride the former which suggests Shutter Speed may be the better of the two. The daughter of Dansili tops BTO+ going into the race and, despite having had just the one career start, she was highly impressive on her sole outing. Shutter Speed made her debut at Yarmouth in October and she did all of her best work in the closing stages of the affair and won by a neck from a Godolphin horse with two runs under her belt already. Shutter Speed should have wintered well and Gosden and Dettori combined with Daban in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket earlier in the week. The filly has four positives on BTO+ ratings, one being Gosden's recent form in the past two weeks, which is 94% better than expected.
RAHEEN HOUSE has the highest BHA rating and the joint-most experience in the field. Brian Meehan's charge started off his career with two second-placed finished at Newbury, finishing one-and-a-quarter length and a neck behind the winners in both runs respectively. Raheen House scratched off his duck in impressive style in his next start at York before connections thrust him into the Racing Post Trophy. Despite being a big outsider on the occasion, the son of Sea The Stars finished a cracking fourth to Rivet at Doncaster and the effort would have delighted connections. Raheen House brags the strongest form going into today's contest and he also tops BTO+ speed ratings.
TEMPLE CHURCH holds entries in the Dante and the Derby later in the season so connections clearly think highly of him. The son of Lawman was beaten fairly comfortably on his debut at Newbury last season but seriously impressed on his next start. Racing in class two company, he got the better of Raheen House, although he hit the line just at the right time. On raw ability, Temple Church may have more talent than Raheen House but Meehan's runner has had an extra two runs and is more experienced. Nonetheless, Hughie Morrison won't be afraid going into the affair and Temple Church is second-best rated by BTO+. Silvestre de Sousa takes the reins and he has a 37% better than expected record at the course.
Enable won her debut at Newcastle in November by three-and-a-half lengths. She's a daughter of Nathaniel out of a Group Three runner-up so should be up to this level. It's not often horses go on to do great things making their debut at the north east track but the second and fourth have subsequently won so Enable has decent claims.
DUBAWI PRINCE runs for Roger Varian. He won on his reappearance at Doncaster earlier this month, although the second was having his fifth start without firing and that form may not be good enough.
