Shorter Trip On This Ground Will Suit Back To Form Seven Year Old
After an eight race career in bumpers (included a Class One at Cheltenham) and novice hurdles (won at Fontwell and Mussleburgh), STORMING STRUMPET has followed a chase career with the exception of a decent handicap hurdle fourth on her penultimate outing. She hasn't won yet but has put in a couple of good efforts including a 16 lengths fifth in a two miles six Class One chase at Cheltenham. She seems to have not quite got home a couple of times on soft going over two and a half miles and her latest effort, a month ago here over that distance was commendable, being beaten a length and a half by the progressive Midnight Jade. Today's trip of just under two miles on ground with plenty of give should be ideal. Her Mussleburgh win was on the soft and BTOPlus+ gives her a positive under "Sire going". Bto has her top of regular ratings and gives her four positives, including trainer Tom George's five winners from 17 runners in the last fortnight and his 12 from 35 over C&D, 61% better than expected.
She can be backed at 11/4 with Stan James.
